The Meaning of the Pentecost Icon

Pentecost is one of the Twelve Great Feasts, celebrated on the fiftieth day of Pascha. Acts describes the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the gathered disciples, with tongues as of fire and speech in other languages through the Spirit’s gift.
