The Meaning of the Saint Nektarios of Aegina Icon

Saint Nektarios of Aegina was born Anastasios Kephalas in 1846. He served the Church as Metropolitan of Pentapolis, an educator, and a spiritual father.

Unjust accusations deprived him of his position, yet his life continued in prayer and service. He helped establish a women’s monastery on Aegina and cared for its spiritual life. He reposed in 1920.

The Church honors him as a wonderworker, and the faithful ask his intercessions in illness and distress. An icon of Saint Nektarios recalls humility amid injustice and the patient love of a shepherd who remained devoted to Christ through suffering.
