The Meaning of the Saint Paisios of Mount Athos Icon
Saint Paisios of Mount Athos was born Arsenios Eznepidis in Pharasa, Cappadocia, in 1924. His family settled in Greece, where he grew up before military service and his later entrance into monastic life.
As an Athonite monk, he became known for prayer, simplicity, and spiritual counsel. Many people sought his guidance in the struggles of faith and daily life. After enduring serious illness, he reposed at Souroti in 1994. The Ecumenical Patriarchate canonized him in 2015.
An icon of Saint Paisios recalls a modern witness to the Gospel, encouraging prayer, humility, and compassionate attention to others.
